The 10-Minute Declutter Trick That Works Every Time

If your home ever feels just a little too full — especially after the holidays — you’re not alone. Between toys, mail, laundry, and everything else life throws our way, clutter sneaks in fast.
But here’s the good news: you don’t need an entire weekend to tackle it. My favorite method takes just 10 minutes — and it really does make a difference.
The Basket Method 🧺
Here’s how it works:
Grab a basket. A laundry basket, bin, or even a big tote will do.
Pick one room. Don’t overwhelm yourself. Just start where you are.
Toss in anything that doesn’t belong. Toys in the living room? Socks in the kitchen? Papers on the couch? Into the basket they go.
Put things back in their home. Once the basket’s full (or your timer goes off), walk through and re-home everything.
Donate or toss what you don’t need. If something doesn’t have a place, maybe it’s time it blesses someone else.
Why It Works
✨ Quick wins. Ten minutes is realistic, even on the busiest days.✨ Resets the space. One room feels instantly lighter.✨ Family-friendly. Kids can grab their own baskets and join in.
For me, this rhythm helps keep chaos at bay. I’ve learned it’s not about perfection — it’s about creating a home that feels peaceful and welcoming.
Try It This Week
Next time you’re waiting on dinner to cook or have a spare moment before bedtime routines, grab a basket and give it a try. You’ll be amazed at how much lighter your home (and your mind) feels after just 10 minutes.
